A dental duo has plenty to smile about after acquiring an Aberdeenshire clinic. Alistair Scott and Euan MacDonald have successfully completed the purchase of Schoolhill Dental Practice in Ellon.

Alistair approached Euan with the proposition after learning that his boss at the practice, Dr David Ovenstone, was going to retire. Alistair has worked at the clinic for seven years and was keen to take over the reins. He teamed up with partner, Euan, and the duo managed to secure funding worth more than £700,000 from the Royal Bank of Scotland to complete the transaction.

The duo is planning to expand the range of services that are available at the surgery and they have high hopes to capitalise on the growing popularity of invisible orthodontics and cosmetic dental treatments. Alistair said that both he and Euan have many years of experience working in the dental industry, and there has been a definite increase in interest in aesthetic dental treatments in the last few years. The team is adding an extra dentist to provide more places and offer new treatments.

Schoolhill Dental Practice opened in 1984 and it provides dental care for more than 10,000 people in the region.

Relationship manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Stew Denholm, said that the funding would enable the ambitious dentists to tap into growing trends and respond to the changing demands of dental patients.
