Dental bridges 'look natural'

Dental bridges 'look natural'People unlucky enough to be missing a tooth would benefit from dental bridges, says one cosmetic dentist.

Dr Tejas Patel of The Centre of Cosmetic & General Dentistry in Austin, Texas explained that a dental bridge looks completely natural as it can be designed to match the shade and shape of the original teeth.

A dental bridge consists of a false tooth to fill the gap and two porcelain crowns for the teeth on either side to secure it.

The cosmetic dentistry treatment can not only restore the wearer's ability to chew and speak, it will prevent the remaining teeth from drifting out of position, Dr Patel added.

He said that there are three types of bridges available - fixed, bonded and cantilever - all of which suit different patients.

"The pontic (false tooth) and any crowns that are used in your dental bridge are made out of porcelain, which looks very similar to your natural enamel," he stated.

Brits spend £360 million on cosmetic dentistry every year, reports the Daily Telegraph.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18568867-ADNFCR
