Crowds Gather For Kansas Mission Of Mercy Dental Clinic

Sample News Big

Crowds have started gathering outside the Kansas Pavilions ahead of a free dental clinic run by the Kansas Mission of Mercy.

The clinic does not open until 5:30am but people started standing in line yesterday afternoon with the aim of sleeping out to ensure that they get an appointment.

The clinic will provide free dental treatment to hundreds of people on Friday and Saturday at the Kansas coliseum; appointments are given out on a first come, first served basis and it is clear to see how valuable the clinic is, with crowds willing to camp out to see a dentist.

Dental volunteers, including dentists, dental nurses and hygienists, will be providing a range of services, including tooth extractions, fillings, cleaning treatments and routine check-ups.

This will be the 10th year the clinic has opened to the public; since the first clinic more than 21,000 patients have been treated and more than $11 million worth of treatment have been given away.

The Mission of Mercy is a national non-profit organisation, which organises free dental events all over the USA; every year state branches provide thousands of people who have no means of paying for dental treatment with free dental care.
