Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo has openly discussed how he treated himself to cosmetic dentistry after joining the team in 2003.

The footballer, who is reportedly paid £7.3 million a year, told a Portuguese magazine that he had a "few cosmetic things done".

Reported in the Sun, sources close to the sporting star explained that he had not had cosmetic surgery but instead simply improved his smile.

When Ronaldo joined the northern team from Sporting Lisbon five years ago, in a deal worth £12.2 million, he wore a brace to correct his crooked teeth.

He has publicly spoke of how he was embarrassed about his smile as a teenager.

"I was small, feeble and had crooked teeth," he said.

However, Ronaldo has since gone through a complete makeover, recently being linked to attractive actress Gemma Atkinson, Portuguese television star and singer Luciana Abreau and Spanish celebrity Carolina Patrocinio.

The 23-year-old recently broke George Best’s record of 34 goals in a single season for a Manchester United winger.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18536369-ADNFCR
