Cost and time-effective implant technology developed

Cost and time-effective implant technology developedNew technology means that dental implants no longer have to be expensive or time-consuming.

Reported by WHEC-TV, a patent for hybridge implant procedure is currently under consideration.

Dr Frank Lamar of the Elmwood Dental Restoration and Implant Centre has developed a row of resin dentures which are fasted to five or six metal implants.

The procedure involves removing a patient's natural teeth in order to fit prosthetic teeth.

Marie Zingarella explained that although she had lost most of her teeth and had to wear dentures, dental implants were not a viable option as they were too costly.

However, with hybridge implants, which cost around 50 per cent less than implants which use porcelain bridges or crowns, she was able to improve her smile dramatically.

"I'm more comfortable talking to people," she said. "I smile a lot now," she said.

The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry reports that dental implants, bridges, veneers andteeth-whitening treatments can all give "a real confidence boost".ADNFCR-1374-ID-18413698-ADNFCR
