A mother in Scotland has claimed that cosmetic enhancement of her smile has changed her life.

Lorraine Patterson told the Paisley Daily Express that she had been going through life with her mouth clamped firmly shut before she had the treatments.

A series of dentistry procedures including extensive bridgework, root canal treatment, dental implants and crowns to cover her own teeth took six months to complete and cost Ms Patterson £10,000.

She explained to the newspaper that the results were definitely worth the money and time.

"I have so much more confidence now, I feel I can do anything," she said. "I know it sounds like a cliché, but this has totally transformed my life."

She claimed her friends and family have remarked upon how happy she is following the surgery, saying it has given her a major confidence boost.

One tenth of the UK population have an interest in cosmetic dentistry, according to research by the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18371833-ADNFCR
