Cosmetic dental work ‘a third of the cost in Hungary’
An Aberdeen development officer has saved £13,500 by travelling to Hungary to have cosmetic dental treatment.
Shirley Norton told the Scotsman that she found a company on the internet which organised the treatment for her.
"I’m the last person you would expect to go abroad and get anything done at all," she said. "But I looked at a lot of feedback and did a lot of homework before I went and thought – I’ll go for it."
The 49-year-old explained that she had two teeth extracted, two dental implants, 17 crowns and a sinus bone graft to straighten her crossed front teeth.
Ms Norton travelled three times to Budapest, two of which she turned into a holiday and one which was just an overnight stay.
All the treatment cost around £6,000, roughly a third of the cost in the UK, she claimed, stating that although she relies on a UK dentist for general dental treatment, the expense of cosmetic dentistry work is too expensive.
According to a British Dental Health Foundation poll in association with Orbit Complete, 47 per cent of respondents had spent money on cosmetic dentistry such as white fillings.
