Key Stage 2 children at Thornhill Primary School featured in a short film, which will form part of a new programme designed to encourage better oral health habits across the country. The Top Teeth video will be sent out to schools all over England to teach kids about looking after their teeth.

Children at the school will be participating in the two-year PhunkyFoods programme, which focuses on tackling childhood obesity and encourages children and parents to make healthier lifestyle choices. Funding for the scheme, which was developed by Purely Nutrition Ltd, has been provided by the county council.

Georgina Ternent, public health manager for Copeland, said that a growing number of children require dental treatment at an early age, and it is hoped that the new programme will encourage healthier eating and better oral hygiene habits.

Managing director of Purely Nutrition Ltd, Dr Jennie Cockcroft, said that the team is delighted to be working with Cumbria County Council and the children at Thornhill Primary School to try and combat public health issues facing children in the county and all over the country.

Jen Temple, a teaching assistant at the school, said that the children were thrilled to be part of the video and everyone is hoping that the film inspires children to look after their teeth and gums and enjoy healthy smiles.
