Comfort Dental, Kansas will host a free dental day on Christmas Eve.

The practice has run the event for the last 27 years and is set to continue the tradition this year. All the Comfort Dental offices will offer free dental treatment throughout the day; there are four offices in Kansas City alone.

The Care Day event was started to enable everyone to access free dental care; throughout the event, anyone will be able to visit the Comfort Dental offices and appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Appointments will be available between 7.30 am and 1.30pm.

The Care Day event involves around 200 dentists and 1,200 other members of staff. Last year, dentists saw over 3,000 patients and more than $600,000 worth of treatment was given to patients. Since the Care Day event was founded in 1986, more than ten million dollars worth of treatment has been provided for patients.

This year, dentists are expecting an even greater turnout, as a larger proportion of people are struggling to afford dental care. In recent years, free dental clinics have become increasingly popular because people are struggling with tighter budgets, lower incomes and unemployment. Dr Neil Norton, the Vice-President of Comfort Dental, said that the team was gearing up for a record turnout, with members of staff anticipating a total of more than three thousand patients.
