Chernobyl Children To Benefit From UK Dental Care Thanks To Ledbury Girls

A group of girls from Ledbury have raised money for the Chernobyl Children’s Project to enable them to visit the UK, receive dental care and enjoy a day out in London.

Lizzi Sutton, 13, and her friends took on a climbing challenge to raise money for the charity, which supports Chernobyl children. Lizzi and her friends from school, Georgie, Amy and Ellie, climbed the equivalent height of the Statue of Liberty to raise a total of £560 for the charity.

Lizzi decided to support the charity after her mother, Karen, helped to treat the children at Beacon Dental Care and Ellie’s family hosted children on their visit last year.

The girls climbed 186 metres to raise money for the charity and their contribution now means that the children will be able to go on a day trip to London. Lizzi is a keen climber and a member of the academy at the Warehouse Climbing Centre in Gloucester, but the other girls are less experienced and Lizza had the responsibility of encouraging her team mates and holding the ropes. On the day, the girls managed almost double their target of 93 metres and they have made a real difference to the children.
