A charitable dentist from Charlottesville is hosting a fish supper, or fish fry as it’s known in the US, to raise money for her upcoming trip to Uganda.

Anita Neel, from Aesthetic Dentistry of Charlottesville, is hosting the event at the Church of the Incarnation on Friday 31st March. Anita is hoping to raise around $15,000, which will buy supplies and equipment for the trip.

Guests will be treated to a fish supper with Alaskan Pollock and three sides on the menu, as well as a dessert and a drink.

Anita has volunteered before, and she has seen first-hand the terrible conditions in which people live. She has visited Haiti, and she is now gearing up for a trip to Uganda where she will be part of a team providing dental treatment and pain relief to hundreds of people, many of whom have never seen a dentist before.

The team will be travelling to Uganda in August, and they are hoping to take plenty of toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste with them to hand out to local people. Over the course of their stay, they will be hosting clinics, and they are expecting to treat in excess of 1,500 patients in just three days.
