Champion jockey shows off new set of pearly whites

Grand National winner, Liam Treadwell showed off a dazzling new set of pearly whites, having undergone days of cosmetic dental treatment.

The jockey had become famous for his teeth following an interview with BBC sport correspondent, Claire Balding after winning last year’s Grand National. During the interview after the race, Ms Balding encouraged the shy jockey to show off his teeth, which she described as “not the best teeth in the world”, before joking that he could now afford to go and have them sorted out by a dentist.

One year on and Treadwell has taken Claire Balding’s rather tactless advice and been to visit his dentist. After years of feeling self-conscious about his teeth and smiling with his lips closed, Mr Treadwell now has a gleaming set of straight, white teeth to show off. He said he was delighted with his new teeth and couldn’t wait to start learning to smile properly. The dramatic transformation took an incredible 15 sessions of cosmetic dentistry which were completed over an eleven month period; however, the Grand National Winner said it was definitely worth all the time and pain.

The BBC received numerous complaints following the incident involving Liam Treadwell and Claire Balding and the correspondent was forced to make a public apology; the public felt the reporter had made a mockery of the champion jockey and had belittled him in public.
