Primary school children in Burnley were all smiles after spending the afternoon with the dental team from Ravat and Ray Dental Care. Members of staff from the practice visited children to talk to them about oral health as part of National Smile Month.

Practice manager, Sharon Fletcher, got into the spirit of things and dressed as a giant toothbrush to talk to the kids from Holy Trinity Primary School and Briercliffe Primary School about oral hygiene and healthy eating.

Sharon said that National Smile Month is a great opportunity to get out and about and meet local people and talk to them about importance of good oral hygiene, a healthy diet and regular dental check-ups.

Last week’s school visits were a great success and the kids learned a lot, as well as having loads of fun. The classes were enthusiastic and the children were eager to learn. A further session has now been arranged at Cherry Fold Primary School next week.

National Smile Month starts on May 19th and runs through to June 19th and practices up and down the country and taking part in events and hosting activities to celebrate and raise awareness of oral health issues. The campaign runs every year and is organised by the British Dental Health Foundation.
