Brits'"shocking"dental habits revealed

Brits'This year's National Dental survey reveals some of the bad habits picked up by Brits and the damage caused to oral health.

Ironically marking the start of National Smile Month, the survey shows how badly Britons treat their teeth - 27 per cent of whom have used them to open bottles and 13 per cent confessing to flossing while driving.

Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation commented: "People are putting themselves at risk with these shocking habits yet around 85 per cent of people are completely unaware of the link between the health of the mouth and the health of the body."

More worryingly, 29 per cent of people confessed to ignoring bleeding gums and continuing to brush, despite bleeding gums being a sure sign of poor oral healthcare.

A recent American Express Insurance Services survey showing that in busy Brits to-do lists, 26 per cent do not make enough time to book a dental appointment.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18602071-ADNFCR
