Bristol dental students offer free treatment for those without a dentist

Sample News Big

Students from the School of Oral and Dental Sciences at the University of Bristol are offering free dental treatment for members of the public who are not currently registered with a dentist.

Students, who undertake treatment under the supervision of qualified dentists, are offering services including crowns, bridges, fillings and scale and polish treatments free of charge. The service is available on most weekdays, but people who are interested in using it are advised to try and be flexible when it comes to appointment times, as they may be allocated at short notice.

The manager of the dental school, James Tubman, said that it was exciting to be able to offer this free dental service to residents in Bristol who don’t currently have a dentist. Patients are encouraged to attend a short consultation to assess their suitability for treatment provided by students, and services are available on a one-off basis. Once patients have been discharged, they will be given advice about how to find a local dentist, as continuous care is not available through this particular service.

Anyone who wishes to apply for an appointment is advised to pick up and fill in a form from the reception desk at Bristol Dental Hospital or download and complete the form online.
