A dental surgery in Brampton, Cumbria, has been short-listed for a regional awards scheme, which recognises the best apprenticeship employers.

The Goodteeth Dental Surgeries LTD has been nominated for the Regional Awards for Apprenticeships and Training 2012, which are hosted by the National Apprenticeship Service. The awards are designed to showcase the best apprenticeship employers in the region.

The Goodteeth Dental Surgeries has employed 8 apprentice dental nurses over the last five years; the apprenticeships have been organised in conjunction with Training 2000, a firm based in Blackburn.

The firm has already received recognition for its training scheme after apprentice dental nurse, Sue McKnight, won the Training 2000 Student of the Year Award in 2010.

Marcia Reid Fotheringham, director of the Goodteeth Dental Surgery, described the nomination as “terrific” and said that it represents the quality of staff working at the surgery. She added that the apprenticeship scheme had made a massive difference to practice over the last five years.

The North West awards are set to take place in Blackburn on the 27th September.
