A Bradford dentist has submitted plans to open a brand new dental practice in Wibsey.

Dr Nadim Mushtaq is proposing to convert the premises located at 19 Fair Road into a dental surgery. The application details plans for two treatment rooms and the addition of a ground-floor disabled toilet. The cellar will also be renovated to provide space for staff changing and a lavatory. On the ground floor, there will also be a spacious reception area and waiting room and a treatment room with a decontamination suite.

On the first floor, there will be another treatment room with decontamination facilities attached, a waiting area and another bathroom. To the front of the building, a ramp will be fitted to allow disabled access and four parking spaces will be created at the rear. There is also parking available at the front of the premises.

If the plans are approved, the practice will open seven days a week between 8.30am and 4pm. It is not known yet whether the surgery will cater for private or NHS patients.

Recently, access to dental services has attracted a lot of attention and media coverage in Bradford, with a shortage of places available, so news of new practices is likely to be welcomed by patients, councillors, and local MPs. Bradford South MP, Judith Cummins, has campaigned for more NHS dental services in the area for several months, and she has raised the issue of poor access in the House of Commons.
