Botox not feeling the recession pinch
Botox continues to defy the recession, according to new research, as more consumers ditch expensive skincare products and opt for longer-lasting cosmetic treatment instead.
According to research company Mintel, Botox and laser hair removal are strengthening their places in the market, while expensive make-up brands are reporting sales decreases.
Harley Medical Group has reported similar results, finding that the demand for non-surgical cosmetic treatments is up 14%.
Mintel’s Alexandra Richmond said: “You can have Botox at the dentist now. We’ve become a lot lazier. We don’t want to spend hours on make-up — we want to just get out of bed and look beautiful. This kind of procedure is becoming standard.”
