Botox 'changes lives'
However, the statement is not referring to its use as an age defying treatment, but the way it has "changed the face" of neurological rehabilitation, reports the Daily Mail.
Dr Anthony Ward, director of the North Staffordshire Rehabilitation Centre, explained that Botox has been used to relax stroke victims' clenched muscles and also assist in the treatment of conditions including migraines, excessive sweating, incontinence and haemorrhoids.
He said: "I am as excited by Botox now as I was 20 years ago. It has not only changed the lives of patients but also doctors and therapists who can do so much more to help them."
Due to its temporary effect, Botox is currently the safest treatment for clinical trials, he added.
Between January and March this year, 57 per cent more men sought Botox treatments than during the corresponding period in 2007, according to The Harley Medical Group.
