Billingham Dentist Given National Role

A dentist from Billingham has been given a national role by the General Dental Council.

Dr Paul Howlett, from Queensway Dental Clinic in Billingham has been given the role of Quality Assurance of Education Inspector, which will see him travelling across the UK.

Dr Howlett will be visiting dental schools across the country, but he will keep his post at the Queensway Dental Clinic. Dr Howlett said that his new job will involve visiting dental schools all around the UK to ensure that they are providing high standards of education and adhere to the GDC document on dental education.

Dr Howlett said that dental education is very important to him and the practice; recently the practice opened a new Education Centre and Dr Howlett’s colleagues were all very supportive when he expressed an interest in applying for the new position.

Dr Howlett said that education is key to the future of dentistry and it is essential that dental schools provide students with a high standard of education.

Queensway Dental Clinic opened in 1994 and now employs more than 100 members of staff at practices in Billingham and Darlington.
