Biddulph Dentist Teams up with Hypnotherapist to Help Patients Quit Smoking

Sample News Big

A dentist from Biddulph, Staffordshire, has joined forces with a hypnotherapist to try and help his patients to quit smoking.

Dr Richard Armishaw, from Synergy Dental Care on Tunstall Road, said that it was important to try and provide support and help for patients to give up smoking, because smoking contributes to serious oral health problems, as well as general medical conditions.

Dr Armishaw warned that smoking causes bad breath, decay, gum disease and tooth staining and urged patients to try and quit ahead of No Smoking Day, which is due to take place on Wednesday 14th March. Dr Armishaw also warned that smoking was a major risk factor for oral cancer, a disease that is becoming increasingly prevalent in the UK.

The practice is now working alongside hypnotherapist, Rosemarie Wakeman to offer an alternative method to help patients to give up smoking. Dr Armishaw said that some people find hypnotherapy very beneficial, as it encourages patients to view smoking in a negative way, which helps them to overcome the habit.

Hypnotherapy is great for quitting smoking; I quit with a self-hypnosis program a year or two ago! It was much more effective and affordable than spending hundreds of dollars on patches, gums, and pills. The program I used was called the Fresh Start Method.

Check it out sometime; it might just be the silver bullet you’re looking for!

Hypnotherapy is also excellent for people who have fear of dental treatment. Do make sure you find a well qualified hypnotherapist in your area, preferably one who is also a Practitioner of Neuro Lingistic Programming as NLP techniques are very powerful in assisting behaviour change.
