An Australian dentist has gone the extra mile to make dental trips fun for kids by investing in a chair shaped like a dinosaur.

Kim Hunter, from Erskine Park Dental, has installed a bright green and yellow dinosaur-shaped dental chair in the treatment room to encourage children to have fun at the dentist and help them to feel more relaxed and confident.

Kim decided to turn a former store room into a family-friendly treatment room after noticing that there was a growing demand for child appointments. Many children came to the practice feeling apprehensive, and Kim wanted to find a way to make the experience more enjoyable and less daunting.

The dinosaur chair has been a massive hit with the kids, and their parents, who no longer have to worry about trying to calm their children down. Those who were once reticent to even enter the room are now running through the door and climbing straight onto the inviting looking chair. The clinic is now seeing around 30 children a week, with some travelling from far and wide to see what all the fuss is about.

Alison Nikau, mother of Amalia, said that the clinic is perfect for children. The team is really friendly and the addition of the dinosaur chair and the hall of fame, which has photographs of kids smiling away at the dentist, helps her daughter to relax. Her 2-year old also has great fun climbing over the dinosaur and it makes the whole process of taking the kids to the dentist a lot less traumatic.
