Ashbourne Dentist Bids Farewell After 40 Years Of Work

Sample News Big

A dentist from Ashbourne has bid farewell to patients and colleagues after 40 years in practice.

Paul Winfield moved to the area from Surrey at the age of nine and after studying dentistry at King’s College Dental Hospital in London, returned to Ashbourne. Mr Winfield believes that fate played a major part in his career path, as he had already applied for numerous positions in London when he received a letter from a practice in Ashbourne inviting him to bob in for a chat. He was packed up and ready to head home for Christmas and only found the letter when he went back into his flat because he had forgotten snacks for his journey.

On returning home, Mr Winfield visited the practice run by Mr John Pugh and Mr CBW Taylor and accepted the job, a decision, which has never regretted.

Over the past 40 years, Mr Winfield has had the pleasure of getting to know many local families and he praised his patients and colleagues. He is now relocating to Norfolk with his wife Ingrid to enjoy more time with friends and family. The couple has four children.

Mr Winfield thanked everyone for a great send-off and wished his successor, Mr Patrick Carroll, all the best for the future.
