Adult professionals offered iBraces
US orthodontist Leslie Pitner explained that she offers iBraces to her patients who want to improve their smile without any visible work.
The product is widely used in Europe and consists of 100 per cent customised brackets and wires which are individually designed to suit each patient and placed on the backside of the teeth, therefore hidden from view.
Dr Pitner commented that iBraces are an excellent alternative to the more commonly used invisalign which can sometimes be limited to correcting certain problems.
"The typical patient is a teenager or an adult who does not want to wear braces but need orthodontic treatment," said Lea Nesbit, chief executive of Lingualcare, the producers of iBraces.
"Patients range from boys and girl who play football and other high-impact sports to corporate executives."
Research by the American Association of Orthodontists has found that between 50 per cent and 75 per cent of the US population would benefit from some form of orthodontic treatment.
