A pensioner was hit so hard by a mugger that her false teeth split in two and shot out of her mouth.
The frail 85-year-old woman was left bruised and shaken after an attacker stole her handbag and tried to wrench a diamond ring from her finger as she walked home from the supermarket in Wilmslow, a town just outside Manchester.
The ferocious mugging happened outside famous local resident Kerry Katona’s house.
The troubled former Atomic Kitten, Kerry, 28, and her husband joined the search for the elderly lady’s prosthetic teeth in nearby bushes.
The pensioner was walking along the junction of Carwood Road and Broadwalk, after shopping at Sainsbury’s in the Cheshire town, at about 5 on the afternoon August 23, when the mugger sprung from a black car, hit her in the face and tried to wrench a diamond ring off. He did not succeed so took the woman’s handbag and made a get away in the vehicle.
Not only were the victim’s false teeth smashed but she was also left with extensive cuts and bruises to the face and shattered confidence.
The police were called and an ambulance took the shaken pensioner to Macclesfield District General Hospital for treatment.
Talking to the Wilmslow Express a local man said: “He must have really hit her with some force to break her teeth.
“It is shocking that this was carried out in broad daylight and you wouldn’t expect it to happen at that part of town and to someone so frail and elderly.”
Police are now scouring CCTV footage from the area in attempt to identify this vicious mugger.
