50 million Americans do not have insurance

Sample News Big

Recent figures have shown that more than 50 million Americans do not insurance of any kind.

Information from the U.S Census Bureau showed that around 16.7 percent of the population did not have any form of insurance policy in 2009.

The large number of people without insurance policies is contributing to an increase in the number of people struggling to afford medical and dental care. Statistics show that the proportion of people avoiding medical and dental appointments is increasing year on year, as people struggle to afford the cost of treatment.

The situation is getting worse in America, as many people have recently been made redundant as a result of the recession; many employers provide insurance policies and additional benefits, so losing a job also means a large number of people lose benefits. Many people are now putting off going to the doctor or dentist or waiting for free clinics; free clinics and events have become increasingly popular since the recession but they can only cater for a very small proportion of the population.
