20-year-olds 'seeking Botox'
A report by BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat and 1Xtra found that in some major UK clinics, women under 30 are making up one quarter of the patients, a 100 per cent increase over three years.
Botox patients in their 20s explained that the injections were similar ageing protection measures to facials, cosmetic creams and other treatments.
Abigal Willmitt, a 23-year-old patient, said: "When I looked at my mum she's got a really strong frown line, so I went and had it done. It's just a preventative measure."
However, Dr Nick Lowe, a London-based surgeon, reported that although the treatments can be safe and effective, often when the injections are offered for a reduced price by local beauty salons, the results can be dangerous.
Dr Lowe advised all those who do seek the treatment to ensure it is administered by a professional.
Ex-EastEnders star Jessie Wallace and Ugly Betty villainess Vanessa Williams have both admitted to being fans of Botox.
