I do not do any NHS work at all. I can only provide the highest quality on a private basis. Unfortunately, given the politics within the NHS all I can say is it will be extremely difficult to get into an NHS practice and I do not know of any short cuts.
I see a wide variety of clients, some of whom are wealthy but the majority are police officers, teachers and bank clerks who often feel the same way you do regarding finances. Take your time to consider your options. You must feel what you are doing is what is best for you. May I offer these words of advice, if you are not in a position to progress further, please wait until you are. High quality dentistry lasts a long time, if you rush to have something done you may not get the outcome you were looking for and be disappointed. If I may make a an observation, you seem to have convinced yourself that you already can't afford the treatment. Come in for a chat, you may be pleasantly surprised. We also offer complimentary consultations with our treatment coordinator. This does not include a consultation with myself but you can spend as much time as you like chatting about your concerns and seeing the type of work we do. Our coordinator will be able to answer many of your questions and help you realise that the solution may be comfortably within your reach

Scater Dude,
High quality cosmetic dentistry does not come cheap and when you consider that a high level cosmetic dentist such as Pav will have invested over £250K alone in post graduate education courses to be able to perform the level of dentistry he does. In addition when you look at the expenses of setting up a private clinic, all these costs and overheads need to be met. It is your mouth that is going to be on display to people every day do not compromise on quality for the sake of a few hundred pounds, only to regret this later in life.

Skater, there are a number of Dentists who do nhs work in doncaster. If the link above doesn't work then just type in "nhs choices" into google and do a search on doncaster in the toolbar search facility (click on the dentist search option). There is also a phone number to ring if you are having difficulty getting nhs dentistry in the area. An nhs dentist may not do cosmetic dentistry on your front teeth unless necessary (e.g. if you tooth is not broken or decayed). They are also limited in the types of materials they can use. However, from what you say, you probably just need a bit of cosmetic contouring on your lower teeth which should be very cheap whether nhs or private. As the top tooth is not a priority maybe it can wait until you have a bit more cash. It's ideal to try to keep your natural teeth rather than bother with veneers. Your natural teeth are usually stronger than anything other than gold. There can be some risks associated even with braces so make sure you ask about risks and future potential problems before you go ahead with any work (in the case of braces a small percentage of people end up with permanently wobbly teeth!). Also make sure you get a full quote before you start. An Nhs dentist may do the work privately if they are not allowed to do it on the NHS. However, their prices for private work are often far lower than those of a non nhs practice. I wouldn't mention anything about your nail file antics to the dentist. They should be qualified enough to make an assessment based based on the state your teeth are in now without you having to tell them the gory history. |
