Hello, I am 20 years old and have a severe overbite and a gap between my 2 front teeth as a result of sucking my thumb when I was younger. I have had braces as an early teen, but my teeth have gone back to how they were before. I am really unhappy with my smile, and am worried my face will begin to sag over time as my overbite is so extreme. I really dont want braces again as I was very self concious of them and it would be even worse being older and having them at Univeristy. Can anything be done to fix my teeth surgically?

Hi Lizzie,
I can certainly understand your concerns. The short answer is no. To correct the problem you describe with veneers or surgery alone would not produce a good result. These types of problems are best dealt with by specialist orthodontists (brace specialists). Of course we can't say exactly what needs to be done without a full consultation. I would recommend a consultation with a good cosmetic dentist who will be able to do the appropriate referal for you I hope this helps Kindest regards
