Clear aligner at end of treatment

Hi, I'm coming to the end of my inman treatment and am very happy with the results. I notice that alot of people here are talking about having a clear brace like invislign fitted at the end of the treatment. My dentist hasn't mentioned this. He has only mentioned the fixed retainer being fitted? Is this unusual? Is the clear retainer always required?

Clear aligners are not always required, I'd say if you're happy, you're finished!
