Default Inman V Invisalign?

Hi all,

I had a consultation with my dentist a few weeks ago about finally getting my crooked teeth sorted. I thought veneers would be my only option, but my dentist told me that invisalign would fix my teeth without the need for veneers.

I have a crooked 'fang' smile (not painting myself in the best light here I know!) and have always been completely self conscious of it. I decided to go ahead with the inviaslign after reading up on them and taking my dentists advice.

I am now in the process of awaiting a date to have the invisalign fitted, however I read only a few days ago about the inman aligner and am now wondering if this would be a quicker alternative to invisalign? What does inman do that invisalign can't and vice versa?

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. x

Hello Catherine

please find written below a summary of some of the adv/adiv of inman vs invisalign

inman advantages

cheaper
alot faster
single appliance
one set of impressions
removable

inman disadvantage

limited movements - rotations and tiliting
need to shave off thin parts of enamel to create space if teeth are crowded
limited teeth movements
affects speech
only do one jaw at a time
limited to the front teeth

Invisalign - advantages

invisible
doesnt affect your speech as much
can tackle alot more difficult cases
can tilt teeth, rotate teeth and achieve bodily movements
do not have to shave teeth to create space

invisalign Disadvantages

More expensive
longer treatment time
more than 1 aligner - more review appointments
may need more than 1 impression

i hope this helps Catherine. You can visit my website for more information Dentist in Surrey, cosmetic dentists Surrey East Molesey Kind Regards

Hi

the Inman aligner can mainly correct mild crowding of the front 4 teeth, ie central incisors and lateral incisors. For some examples of what can be achieved please have a look at the Inman aligner website.

Invisalign/Clearstep can correct mild/moderate crowding of more teeth, not just the front 4.

We get many patients coming in for consultations asking for the Inman aligner, but not everyone is an ideal candidate for the reason stated above.

I hope this helps

Raha
