Default Lost bone

Unfortunately I had to have my teeth removed because of gum disease. Now my face is sunken as my gums have shrunk. I look 20 years older. I have heard about bone implantation and wondered if this is a possibility. It is causing me distress and I feel that I no longer want to go out to meet new people as this is noticable and others have comented on this. I know I need help but do not know where to start. Please help

Bone augmentation is possible when considering implants. If you have no teeth or implants in place, the bone will start to disappear again.

This is a common problem with dentures, but the dentures can be made to give more support to your face and lips. A god set of private dentures takes into consideration the support required by the face as well as a natural set up of the teeth

Hope this helps

Kindest regards

Hi

If you have been wearing dentures for many years and thefore as you state your lips have suken in then the best way to treat this is by of course good made dentures.

Other alternatives are dentures retained to implants(either bar or locators). We do many of these and we find that the hold of dentures is excellent. Patients are amazed by the difference and they find they can chew practically anything!

Is 20 years too long for implants? Again it depends on the amount of bone you have available. A ct scan would be required to judge this. You may find you have enough bone. In cases where the patient doesnt, they would require bone grafting.

Hope this helps.

Exclamation

I am in the same position. My dentures are loose because of gum shrinkage. I would be interested if you solved this problem.

Hi

I would recommend you find a dental practice which is experienced in dental implantology procedures to allow you to know all the options available to you.

The following link shows many animated videos ,which gives you more information about implant options.

Dental implants Leicester dental implants in Loughborough & Nottingham

Good luck!
