(Picture) What The Heck Is This On My Crown?????

Hi all, my crown fell out and there is this 1" long wire protruding from it. The wire is cemented solidly in the crown and it slides back into the hole in my gums but it can't be a post because it's too thin. Anyone know what is is and if ithe crown can be saved ???????

That looks like a post to hold the crown into the tooth. Without a full consultation it's difficult to say but I don't think that can be saved

yikes.. I am surprised it slides back into place. looks like it has had it to me.
