one crooked tooth

got one crooked tooth at bottom front, sticks out a bit from rest, its a spacing issue,

dentist offered to do a retainer that you slot in to base of mouth with metal hook on, so not a brace as such, like a plate that they make from taking a mold from base bed of mouth

said it should work in under a year and said it would be around £600

is that not alot for something so basic?...I need a rough idea
