Extremely thin Veneers can work really well when used in the correct situation.
If your teeth are tilted inwards, thin veneers can be applied to your teeth to broaden the smile, and these would not feel or look bulky. Your teeth would not be need to be prepared in such cases.

However if your teeth no not in the most desired position, then your veneers can feel bulky if they are applied onto your teeth without preparation. It does really depend on your case.
Filing down teeth over 0.5mm will cause sensitivity, but with the advancments in materials and products nowadays, once your veneers are cemented on, the sensitivity is minimal, if any.
