Q. My dentist(locum)has suggested root canal treatment and a crown. I have a temporary filling. As a pensioner I am worried about the cost, but would prefer not to lose the tooth. Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled?
A. I guess the root canal treatment is needed to sort out either an infected root or a deep cavity so this will be needed whatever you put on top. You could possibly go with a build up filling in the short term on top but ultimately a crown will protect the tooth and prevent fracture in the future.
