Would be sensible for me to have the root extracted and have a bridge done now, then a bone graft and implant later on?

Q. Hi, I had an accident recently in November 2009 where I fractured the root of my upper front left tooth and have had it extracted (with the root still left in place-this was done in case I was to have an implant). I am now looking into my options for either a bridge or an implant. At this stage I am considering getting a bridge (due to both money and time restraints) but would like some advice on the implications of removing the root now for the bridge and whether this will affect me having an implant at a later stage in any way? Could you please advise me and give your opinion whether it would be sensible for me to have the root extracted and have a bridge done now then a bone graft and implant later on? Kind Regards,
A. I would try to recommend an implant as the first option if possible, because by carrying out a bridge then you are damaging the adjacent teeth, unless it is a maryland bridge. There are various financial options to spread the cost.
