Worried about dental implant treatment

Q.
I lost a lower front tooth a bit back after a root canal treatment went bad. I had a dental implant, I was told, to preserve the integrity of the adjacent teeth. A larger than usual implant was used, I was told, as perhaps I had kept the tooth in question for too long. The implant finally healed. The crown on it is suboptimal, really looks little like my natural teeth. I am now having the gum receed around the implant and on each of the adjacent teeth. A periodontist told me it’s just a difficult situation but there’s nothing to be done. The appearance is sort of third worldly. Feel as if I have been really mislead about the entire implant situation. Any advice? Thank you.

Thank you for your questions. With modern implant placement and grafting techniques, it should be possible, in the right hands, to achieve excellent aesthetics.

I would advise you go for a second opinion with a very experienced dental implant expert and one who is able to satisfy very high aesthetic demands.

Our own prosthodontist Dr Nick Fahey and he is excelelnt and I would highly recommend him
