Will the removable retainer do the job of preventing my teeth from grinding?

Q. Hi I tend to grind my teeth during the night time. I have a mouth guard that I wear once or twice a week during the night (It is bulky and uncomfortable). My question is if I wear my removable retainer on my upper jaw as I have just recently removed my braces, (I have been told I must wear my essix retainer every night for a very long time) do I also have to wear my mouth guard every night to prevent the removable retainer from getting damaged or will the removable retainer do the job of preventing my teeth grinding. Kind Regards.,
A. It might be enough to wear your retainer but on;y if it covers enough of the teeth, if you grind your teeth a lot then the retainer might not be strong enough.
