Will my speech return to normal soon after getting dentures?

Q.
On Tuesday my dentist removed my front four teeth which were root canal filled with amalgum. One tooth has become loose following a fall, the other three had also been damaged. I have a neuro condition and he was concerned about the amalgum fillings saying that they could be making the neuro problems worse. I have a denture fitted, which looks good, but I am really struggling with speaking (S’s mainly). Will this improve, or should I look at getting something else done?
Woken up for the past 2 mornings without a headache, and ‘buzzing’ in legs seems much improved – so just speech to get sorted!

Dear Enquirer,
it is normal for your speech to be affected temporarily when you have a denture fitted, especially more so if you’ve never worn one before. The sounds that get affected are the ‘s’ and ‘f’ and ‘v’ sounds mostly, but after a few days your tongue, cheeks and lips adapt and you should be talking normally.
I hope this helps,
Sunita
