Will my old, metal crown post cause me any harm?

Q.
Hello doctor, I wonde if you could answer a quick question?

I have a crown diffused to metal and the dentist lately tried to remove it to adjust the color a little. The crown was done with temporary cement about 7 months ago. He tried hard but he could not remove the crown what I am worried about is that I have uncovered metal at the back of the crown from where he tried to remove it. Is this safe as I am concerned about drinking hot stuff and any leakage from the same metal since it is not covered with porcelain, im worried about the damage it could cause.

Thank you for your time

A.
Dear Enquirer,
You have no need to worry as quite often we make crowns with a metal backing if there is a shortage of space. The metal is not required to be covered with porcelain, what is important is the fitting of the metal around the edge of the tooth, this should be seemless. Hope this helps Regards,
