Will I get an infection if the gum closes the little fragments off?

Q. Hello Dr. Caplan, I had a root canal treatment in one of my first molars before delivery with my first child. i did not get a filling during the pregnancy fearing any pain or complication. two days ago it has fallen off on its own (i know, its sad i could have saved it), and i cant see my dentist for a few days. thing is, only a few pieces are present in the gum and the gum feels like its closing them off. its not too painful and there’s no inflammation. should i rush before that happens? will i get an infection if the gum closes the little fragments off? i will be really thankful if u answer. thankyou,
A. You need to be seen asap as the exposed treated root canals can become infected.
