Will I feel anything when the dentist starts exctracting my teeth?

Q. I am having a wisdom tooth and the tooth in front removed under i.v sedation on friday. I am so worried about the procedure and can’t sleep due this. Dentist are my biggest fear and all I want to know is if I will feel anything going on when the dentist starts exctracting. Can I be put to sleep via gas and how do I go about it? I really need your help as I am not looking foward to the treatment at all.,
A. Firstly, IV sedation is a very good option for patients who are nervous about the treatment. You will be administered some sedative via a line in the arm/back of your hand. You will feel sleepy and most patients actually do go to sleep. You may be awake, but you won’t feel anxious about anything and you will feel realy relaxed and not bothered. Most patients also get amnesia after the treatment- so you probably wont remember any of the dental work that you have had done when you finally come round and wake up. Everything, I’m sure will be fine. You just need to remember that there are many more risks associated with GA- and this can only be done in a hospital setting. There is usually a long waiting list, and I would recommend IV sedation for quicker treatment to get it done and out of the way, so that oce it is done, you can stop worrying 🙂 Good luck with it all.
