Will Crown Work Damage My Veneers?

Q.
I have veneers on my front upper teeth, but one is a crown. Within a short time, a dark gum line appeared. I want to change the crown for an all porcelain crown as the one I have has a metal core. Will the process damage the veneers either side of it? I had the work done in 2009. I live in London and would like to find an expert in cosmetic dentistry to advise what is best for my situation. My usual dentist is very good, but he does not specialise in cosmetic work.

Hi, thank you for your question. It won’t damage the veneers either side but it might be difficult to match the colour exactly, as the metal core tends to shine through the porcelain crown, so you may have other complications to consider. Kind regards, Andrew.
