Why does my tooth keep rising, 18 months after a root canal?
Q.
I have a molar ( #19) that had a root canal 18 months ago. The tooth continues to rise slightly in the socket, and my dentist has to grind the crown down slightly twice. I do wear a splint at night on the upper teeth. I do not feel any pain in the tooth, but as it continues to rise it meets the upper teeth and begins to become tender in the root area. My question is why does the tooth continue to rise, and will it stop rising?

You may have an infection in your tooth or gum creating a swelling in and around the tooth.
I would recommend you see a dentist and have x-rays taken. If it is not the tooth that is infected, you could visit the hygienist who will be able to clean up the gums and make sure there is no gum infection to cause swelling.
