What would be best to replace front missing tooth. Bridge or implants?

Q.

Can you please advise, my daughter she will be 18 in two months time, she has loose her front tooth while she was in primary school. Now the tooth has been taken out and i am in need of advice on either to go for the bridge or implant. please how much would an implant in front cost. Regards

A.
To answer your question an implant will generally be the better long term option than a dental bridge. But this can be more expensive. Still, I would need to see her to give you the best options.

Hi! I have a bridge sitting on 4 bio noble implants on my lower jaw, however I need to replace the bridge, is this something you can do, and if so an approximate cost please.

Barry Says :

You can replace the bridge on your Noble Biocare Implants; this isn’t a problem at all. However, before a quote can be made you would need to see a dentist for a full consultation so they can have a look at the implants, the bridge and the rest of your teeth.

Is it safe to put a four teeth bridge on two implants (four molars) to the upper right.

Canace Says :

This depends on the opposing bite force, length of implants, bone density and size of the space, so it varies from patient to patient

Hey there,

I had my upper right 1 & 2 plus my upper left 1 & 2 teeth taken out. All 4 front teeth are gone and my dentist is giving me a partial denture. It’s a plastic partial denture atm but she says I havce to upgrade it in 6mths to a year. I understand that much but what I would like to know is which denture for the area I’m missing teeth in would be the best denture for mini implantsd and what would the cost be?? Could you please help me because I’m not happy with this partial denture flopping about in my mouth. It’s killing my confidence and I need to know If there is anything I can do via mini implantsd to keep a partial denture in place?? Please help!

i hope that you are good I have three teeth missing, all on my bottom jaw, which sit in a row of three. My NHS dentist tells me he can cement a bridge between the teeth, but i would really like something more stable. How would dental implant work for me and how much would it cost to fill in the gaps? Do private practices usually offer payment plans to split the costs? thank you

September 26th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Angeline Says :

hi, it sounds like you would need either 2-3 implants to hold the 3 missing teeth. As a guide expect to pay around £4500-6000 most practices offer payment plans but check with them before booking your consultation

I have lost one of my teeth after getting into, shall we say an altercation with someone. I really would like to have the tooth replaced and have been looking at all of the usual options. i really hate the thought of a denture plate and a bridge would ruin the surrounding teeth, so a dental implant is currently my replacement of choice. However, it does seem to be the most invasive, and there is a higher chance of it failing in comparison to the removable devices, so could you tell me what would occur if the dental implant didn’t take? Would I be able to try ago, so to speak? thank you

Kelsi Says :

Yes they can be redone if at first they don’t succeed. The best thing is to spend a little more and see an expert who has lots of experience. Then the chances of having problems are minimised.

Hi, I have a tooth that seems to be eating itself out – its largely hollow now. This seems to have mainly developed in the last year. I have seen a specialist and most of the other teeth seem ok. I have been offered a few options, implant, bridge or something like a bridge via an “edge retainer”. This last option sounds good in terms of cost/time to complete (6-8 weeks rather than 6-9 months) – but I am wondering if its a good/stable long term option? Thanks,

Not sure what this is but you maybe mean an adhesive bridge. this works well in many situations but can be unpredictable as they can often come out easily

I have had a bridge of two teeth in the front of my mouth since I knocked my teeth out when I was 13. Now the tooth holding the bridge has decayed. My dentist says I cannot get it done on the NHS and it will cost me £2,000 approx. We are on pension credit and this will be a mighty struggle. Is there an alternative solution except dentures which I couldn’t tolerate, I kept heaving, and as I have asthma my breathing was comprimised. How much will an implant cost me please?

Layne Says :

The implant fees are likely to be higher. Guide price around 2000 per implant & single tooth but quite a lot of scope to be more. If you are origioinally missing 2 teeth, and about to loose 2 more a six tooth / unit bridge would be needed. The private costs is approximately six private crowns. Regtards

The middle tooth on my lower jaw is growing backwards. Its growing behind the line the other teeth are growing. I have a line of straight teeth the one tooth growing on its own. Never used to bother me but its seems to have started to move backwards and is catching on my tongue and is causing a dull ache. Can I have the one tooth pulled out and an implant put in? many thanks

Brendan Says :

Hello yes you could have the tooth replaced with a single implant if the bone is ok. the dentist would then align the new tooth with the surrounding teeth correcting the misalignment.

I am with a NHS dentist at the moment and have 3 missing teeth. the only thing they can offer me is a denture plate or bridge and im not enamoured with either. How much would it get to have these three mising teeth replaced wtih implants and is it usual to have payment plans to spread the cost to make it more manageable? thank you

Haleigh Says :

Hi The cost of 2 dental implants for a 3 unit bridge will depend on the following 1. quality of implants used 2. quality of crowns used 3. quality of abutments used 4. does the patient require bone graft. therefore the price can range £3500 to £4500 depending on the above factors. Many patients either pay as they go along or take finance plans to spread the cost from 1 to 5 years.

hi im just wondering i have a crown and veneer on two front teeth and had root canal done and also my teeth either side of them stick out a little think they need aligning and are discoloured could work be done without braces, do u think implants would be a good idea but will need the two teeth taken out ur help would be great because it really gets me down and stops me enjoying myself also and how much would u think it would cost

Cooper Says :

If the crowding is very severe then implants might be a quick solution, if not then a combination of crowns and veneers might be the best solution. You might even want to consider invisable braces such as Invisalign?

I have had an implant to replace a missing tooth recently but feel that I should have had this after my teeth had been straightened. I know this sounds amateur but neither me or the dentist carrying out the procedure thought about having orthodontics carried out at that moment. now however it is bothering me more than ever and I feel I want to have them straightened. I like the look of Invisalign and feel that because my teeth haven’t long been crossed that I will be a good candidate for this treatment. I the thing is the top teeth (the only row that are actually crossed) is where the implant is located. right behind my left canine. Do you think It would be possible to have Invisalign with my dental implant or is more work going to have to be carried out?

I have recently had dental implants after a car accident knocked my front two teeth in. however, i am also looking ot have brace work, to bring my two ‘fangs’ down into their correct place. Is this possible when you have dental implants, especially when they are so near the front of the mouth and near the teeth that need straightening? My fangs have bothered me for years and after having treatment for my front teeth, it just feels right to have them treated to. thank you

Hello your dentist wil have given you the pros and cons of having an implant . It seems you are focussing on the negatives and catastrophising . If you are having an implant then I assume you have got over any dental fear to proceed with this . Implants have a high success rate these days . They are not painful to have done , and your dentist will make sure you have any necessary painkillers and antibiotics . Make sure you follow all the post operative instructions and you should be fine

A provisional bridge properly adjusted for all excursions would be a good choice to see how things respond. Evaluate weekly for 8-12 weeks.

It’s been 3 months since my implants were done and I am now ready for the impressions for my teeth to be made. The dentist suggested that I get temporary abutments (temporary teeth are put on top) until my real teeth are ready. The cost is $300 per tooth (I have 2 teeth to be replaced). Is this necessary???? He said that it would be to my advantage to make sure I like the shape of the teeth and the color. I have had implants done before, without doing this, but they were molars. These 2 teeth are close to the front. What do you think?

Hi there! Unfortunately, it is very hard to answer your question without having seen your teeth. If there is enough space it should’ t take too long, but if the teeth are crowded then it would take longer. The best thing to do is to visit an experienced Invisalign dentist to be assessed.

I just had all my lower teeth removed & an all on 4 temporary bridge fitted, it feels like I have a mouth full of thick plastic which seems massive and keep biting my cheek, tongue & lip, is the final bridge made the same or smaller as this is really thick and making me feel sick. My dentist also said he couldnt put on a back molar on the right side because my bone had infection which means i cant chew. On the left side he has placed one back molar but when I talk or try to eat it traps my tongue and I bite my cheek and bottom lip, so i can only drink soup, he said i would have this for 4 – 5 months and i am really worried about it

August 2nd, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Ann Says :

The permanent bridge is generally a bit smaller, I can’t really give you a proper idea of the final size and shape without seeing you first so perhaps you should see your dentist to see what they think
