What Should I Do After My Tooth Is Removed?
Q.
I will be extracting a root canal tooth which is a pre-molar on my upper right arch. The tooth directly in front of it is an implant. I’ve been told that my options for tooth replacement are limited because of the implant. It was suggested that I just leave a gap there. (I do not want to get another implant).
Could you please advise me of my options for filling in the gap after my extraction.
Thank you.

You might be able to have a new dental restoration made, replacing the one already on the implant, that has two teeth, rather than one – in essence a bridge on your existing implant rather than a single tooth.

Options to replace mssing teeth are as follows:
Denture or removable bridge – there are several types from plastic to fine metal
Bridges – either resin-bonded or fixed
Implant retained
I woudl seek out a second opinion from a restorative or cosmetic dental expert if you are not satisfied with the answers from your own dentist
