What options do I have for straightening my pointed canines?

Q.
Dear Dr. Hughes,
I am a 20 year old female. My upper canines have basically been bugging me all throughout my teenage years and whether I like it or not, they make me very self conscious. My left upper canine is very pointy and sort out jolting out, whilst the right one is slightly less ugly but still pointy. I have been to a dentist some years ago who had said I need to get braces but this is an option which I really am not keen on as it would take a long time and I just don’t want them. What other options might there be for me? Would I be able to undergo some form of surgery? It is a dream to ever have a normal healthy-looking smile one day and I really hope braces is not the only option there is out there for me.

Many thanks for your time

Kind regards,

A.
Hi There could be several options open to you, but it would be impossible to accurately advise you without seeing you for a consultation. Dental bonding or veneers may be possible to help you achieve what you wish for, but also maybe something like Invisalign might work too and this could be the healthiest option?

Please try to go for a consultation to either myself, one of my team colleagues or an experienced cosmetic dentist near you

best wishes

Mark
