What is the difference between a filling and a microseal?

Q.
Hi

Can you please advise what the difference is between a normal filling and a microseal?

I can’t seem to find any information on the net.

Thank you.

A.
A ‘sealant’ is normally done without any , or very minor, removal of tooth structure. A filling always involves the loss of tooth and is deeper inside the tooth than a sealant. A filling is required if you have tooth decay that has started to destroy the tooth, or to replace an older filling that has failed. A sealant is normally a ‘preventative’ treatment to try to avoid problems in the future in areas of the tooth susceptible or ‘at risk ‘ to decay
