what is a screw in tooth ?

Q. What is a screw in tooth ? I have a denture on a plate for a missin front tooth . My dentist wont do a bridge on nhs but says he will do a screw in tooth . Are these cosmetically awful ?

A. I am not sure what you mean by “screw in” tooth.  If the root of your tooth is present and healthy a post can be put inside the root and a new tooth (crown) attached.  The other option is a dental implant which is placed in area with no teeth.

I am having all my teeth pulled and I want to have the false teeth that are screwed in and not just regular dentures. i was trying to get a average price on having that procedure done.

Could I get help to have a private dental bridge fitted as opposed to a nhs one. Could I repay the amount monthly over a period of time. I would appreciate your help.

Thankyou

Hi guys, i am undergoing a dental implant as of this moment back in my home town in Srilanka. I had trauma on my front tooth 10yrs back, through the yrs the tooth that was hit eventually went black as the root died. A root canal was done within the yrs but to no avail. I had to have a dental cap on as the tooth went blacker and blacker, then it feel out 3 yrs ago. They did a partial denture, which consists of a single tooth on a plate that is designed to fit in the mouth. At first it was difficult to have but now very happy with it, i have to take it out and clean it every day, and also when i eat (only at home) i take it out. I had an appointment with my local dentist to which he referred me do a place where they do implants, at an estimated cost of £4000, as i am not on the nhs list! To which i could not afford nor would i consider this price. I have since gone back home to my parental country where i had am implant screwed in 6 months ago, its a screw which is about 13mm long and it is drilled in under sedation and local anaesthetic, still hurt mind alot! I am now back here 6 months on having my implant set in the morning, although i have been told for the reason that my teeth are too short this may be unsuccessful! I have paid £400 for the procedure at a well renowned dentist here in Srilanka who worked all his life in UK but has come home to continue his work.
